Streams And Blogs Aren't Enough For Web Success....

The new RTDNA/Hofstra study shows radio lagging behind TV in Web success. While the study shows that web sites with bigger staffs are more likely to make a profit, it's TV stations that are up 4.3% in the last year with radio either flat or falling in profitability. Radio was down despite an increase in audio streaming and blogs. You better be doing more than that to increase Internet profits. In addition to making your website more interesting to view how about stressing the importance of web business to your sales staff. Both are vitally important...

The inclusion of links to facebook and twitter on your web site is a necessity and how about putting a camera in your control room? If you're not using local show information, you should be. If you're not using artist and celebrity video, do it. And I would also use a news crawl with video links to news stories. When listeners mention an interesting web site, check it out. Find out what they're doing to get some ideas that you can use...

Whatever you do with your web site should reflect the personality of your radio station. It's an extension of your station. It should visually provide what you can't offer on radio. But make it creative, streaming and blogging have already become so then...
