'The Next Generation Of Talk Radio'...

The Next Generation Of Talk Radio is what they're calling Chat About It, an online radio station created by all-news 1010 WINS, the first all-news station in New York City radio history. Clicking on Chat About It can put you in the middle of a discussion about the mounds of doggie poop on city streets or a more pleasant but equally vital topic of your choice. Chat About It is an easy listen. I sampled the Unfiltered Show. Other show topics include The Trader Speaks, Tax Trouble Help, Star Talk, Political Chick, Good Life & Living Green. There were also personality names listed but none of them were familiar to me. Chat About It has a mobile device page to help you find the right app for your needs. And there's more...

CBS Radio has put together quite the online package for its brand. No doubt, this effort cost tons of bucks but was attainable with the support of AOL. Here's some background history on the marriage of CBS and AOL, based on my time at CBS-FM. Sometime after 2000 when Mel Karmazin was running things at CBS, he was opposed to streaming any of the CBS stations. The general consensus of opinion was that Mel was trying to find a way to capitalize on streaming. Along comes AOL which signed a two-year exclusive contract with CBS radio. From that day forward CBS stations began to stream. That initial deal has created a monster...
