Commentary

Tom Noonan who made his mark when he started the Pop charts at Billboard Magazine turns a very young and vibrant 77 today. Tommy became an executive at Columbia Records and later Motown. Tom is a legendary figure in the entertainment business and now publishes the Columbia/Epic Records Alumni Association newsletter, working tirelessly and endlessly at his own expense to write, edit and post each newsletter to over 430 members of the association of present and former employees of Columbia/Epic/Associated/SONY. Tommy just posted his 59th issue and is nearing 10 years with his labor of love. The association will celebrate its annual luncheon in New York on June 17th. The following letter to the editor was published in the May 25th edition of AM New York:

Re: "100 economists give stadium a bad grade": Kudos to the 106 economists who disagree with the current view of the mayor, governor and others who claim that "significant" fiscal benefits will be drived from the proposed West Side Stadium. Here's to the wisdom of Sheldon Silver and Joseph Bruno to do the right thing by denying funds for the stadium with their votes. And shame on Bloomberg and Pataki for trying to shove this boondoggle deal down the throats of all taxpayers who would help pay the tab for this sweetheart deal...
