"Should I Stay or Should I Go" - The Clash (1981)...

"Darling you got to let me know"...Billy Donovan wakes up Sunday morning and in the middle of brushing his teeth yells out to wife Christine. And now the other shoe drops, "Should I stay or should I go?" Before Christine can get a word out of her mouth in response, Billy continues. "This indecision's bugging me. If they don't want me, set me free". "If I go there will be trouble, an' if I stay it will be double." "Well come on and let me know. Should I cool it or should I blow." ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ag8J2NMYmc ...

Okay so I took a little liberty with the order of the lyrics, written in 1981 and included in The Clash LP "Combat Rock", released in 1982 on Epic Records and tapes (no CD's back then). I love it when a college coach decides to stay at the college level rather than turn pro as Donovan appears to have done. For every failure, Lou Holtz, Rick Pitino and Nick Saban among the lot, there's a Joe Paterno (who will be buried in his cleats on the field in Happy Valley, PA), Mike Krzyzewski and Bobby Stoops who would rather stay than go...
