Beach Boys first chart topper...

The Beach Boys reached the top of the charts for the first time on this date in 1964 with the summer escapist anthem, "I Get Around". America's most important and successful band began their chart climb with their first single, "Surfin'" in 1962 and two years later ruled the charts despite the emerging presence of The Beatles...

With both Brian Wilson (6/20) and Bruce Johnston (6/27) recently celebrating birthdays, what better time to celebrate the Beach Boys and their first #1 hit ?

The Beach Boys would top the charts 3 more times with "Help Me Rhonda" (1965), "Good Vibrations" (1966) and "Kokomo" (1988)...
