Music History Made...

There are two anniversary dates over the weekend to note. The two events, separated by 10 years and 5,000 miles occurred in England and Indianapolis, Indiana...

This Saturday, June 25th marks the 38th anniversary of The Beatles historic introduction of the single "All You Need Is Love". What made it historic was the live tv satellite feed to 26 countries around the world, reaching an audience of 400 million viewers. The Beatles were ably assisted by a chorus of some singers you might recognize: Eric Clapton, Keith Moon, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards...

The second event took place in Indianapolis 10 years later. That date in 1977 marked the final appearance of Elvis Presley. The venue was Market Square Arena. The last song Elvis sang ? "Can't Help Falling In Love"...

Commentary...

A must-read for the summer is "Freakonomics" by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner and I highly recommend it. Whether you're a research freak like me or not, it places the proper perspective on all things involving numbers but also does more, exposing the hidden side of everything. It also teaches us a good lesson that there's a reason for everything that happens and that reason many times is unpredictable. Like "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell, another book I recommend, you'll learn how little things can make a big difference...
