The video wheel keeps turning...

The big boys keep jockeying for position in the race for your online viewing habits on a daily basis it seems. This time it's NBC which is moving in another direction, away from YouTube. For the last year, NBC Universal was hawking its wares on YouTube, the better to provide you with your fix of clips from "The Office", "Saturday Night Live" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" but no longer...

NBC will be doing the hula with Hulu. Hulu.com will provide online clips and full episodes of NBC shows but they won't focus on user-generated clips like YouTube. NBC programming, in addition to hulu.com, will be distributed on MySpace, Yahoo!, MSN, AOL and Comcast. NBC may also include YouTube sometime in the near future too. YouTube will continue to share revenue and provide clips from CBS, SonyBMG, Warner Music Group, Showtime and Universal Music however...

Clips of NBC shows will continue to show up on YouTube via user-uploaded clips as long as there's not a copyright infringement or the clip is pirated. That's what's great about YouTube's position. As long as they claim they will respond immediately to any requests to stop showing something at the request of the offended company, they're in the clear. You can't beat that...
