Will Radio benefit from the tightest of tight presidential primary races ???

The stakes are huge in today's latest 'make-or-break' primaries in Ohio and Texas for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. In the fall, the Radio Advertising Bureau predicted an increase in revenue for radio because of 2008 presidential advertising but no one could have predicted a race thisclose. It's anyone's guess as to how much that revenue increase brings. The big question for radio is how much of the advertising will show up on their side of the media ledger as the candidates head for November 4th? As always, the aggressive GM's and Sales Managers will determine the revenue winners and losers...

The speed of this election is lightening-fast. It can change in a fraction of a second. Just yesterday the media jumped all over the '3 a.m. phone call' ad posted by Hillary Clinton. Results are already in on the effectiveness of that ad. HCD Research, using its MediaCurves Internet-based technology, tested the ad with 554 self-reported Democrats and independents. Prior to the ad, Obama led Clinton 36% to 33% (all respondents) with 31% undecided. After the ad, Clinton gained 2 points to 35% while Obama gained 1 point to 37%. The undecided dropped 3 points to 28% (again, all respondents were tested). You can view all the results of this focus-group research by clicking http://www.mediacurves.com ...

Radio better be as quickasthat to catch the political revenue stream just waiting to be had as we head for November...

If you're as inundated as I am with spam, you'll be happy to note that the Virginia Supreme Court affirmed the nation's first felony conviction for illegal spamming on Friday, ruling that the state's anti-spamming law does not violate free-speech rights. As a result, Jeremy Jaynes of Raleigh (NC), one of the world's top 10 spammers was convicted and sentenced to nine years in prison.
