Here come da judge...Here come da judge...

The Clear Channel buyout mess will be handled in the courts. The bell for round one in this heavyweight bout between the banks and Clear Channel rang in a Texas District Courtroom presided over by Judge John D. Gabriel of Bexar County, Texas. The judge ruled in favor of CC's claim that "irreparable harm would result if the banks were not immediately enjoined from tortiously interfering with the merger agreement." For those of you searching for a dictionary, I'll spare you. Noah Webster defines tortious as "implying or involving tort." My favorite tort is cherry but that's another story...

You know what worries me the most about this deal falling through? The banks that most of us have accounts in, agreed to the deal in the first place. Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia may have to fork over more than $19 billion. What were they thinking???

The banks got cold feet when credit markets worsened but they won't take this Texas District Court ruling lying down or at least, without covering their feet or perhaps another part of their anatomies. The bell for round two will be ringing at any moment, this time for the banks. Here come da judge...here come da judge...
