10 Thoughts on Live Earth:
  1. Using fuel-guzzling jets to get to the venues doesn't set a good example of ways to make this globe greener does it???
  2. 150 acts will perform at 8 concerts all over the world but how many acoustic sets will there be? Performing artists should be singing either acapella or using acoustic instruments to promote energy conservation...
  3. I agree with The Who's Roger Daltrey who said it best when he said: "The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert"...
  4. I also agree with Midnight Oil drummer Rob Hirst: "Any of the musicians here who've spent 24-30 years roaming the globe on planes, trains and automobiles should have a mighty guilty complex about what they've done to the environment"...
  5. Organizers predict live broadcasts on cable television and the Internet could reach up to 2 billion. Considering that the world population is 6.6 billion, that's quite an optimistic estimate...
  6. Lukewarm response in Istanbul, Turkey caused that venue to be cancelled. By the way, for those headed to Sydney, Australia which will host the first concert, there are plenty of seats available...
  7. All the acts are performing free and proceeds from ticket sales will go toward distributing power-efficient light bulbs and other measures that will offset the shows' greenhouse gas emissions. If retail would lower the price of those power-efficient light bulbs, I might actually buy one...
  8. The biggest names will appear at Live Earth concerts in London (Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, Duran Duran, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.) and Giants Stadium (Akon, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, Sheryl Crow, KT Tunstall, The Police, etc.)...
  9. Mostly local acts will be performing in Australia with only one international act (Jack Johnson) scheduled. the re-formed 80s group Crowded House headline the show...
  10. Al Gore will be at the Giants Stadium show but Al Gore III may be detained from making an appearance...
