Social Networks Are Facing Revenue Problems...

Whether you use Facebook, Twitter or MySpace, you might be losing your favorite social network according to Haymarket Media, the global media watchdog. Unless the social nets start charging premium rates for ad space, they may not survive. Instead of flooding their own networks with ads, media experts suggest looking elsewhere to advertise. Richard Absalom, consumer technology analyst at Business Insights says that streams of ads on social networks were turning users off. His suggestion? Including in-game advertising, offering virtual gifts and creating user groups and advertising around premium video content. In other words do what radio used to do successfully - entertaining its audience...

Social networks may be in financial trouble but usage has not slacked off except for MySpace. Although still more popular globally than Facebook or Twitter, MySpace is losing users. Here in the U.S., Facebook has about 6 times as many users as Twitter and who uses MySpace???

Social networks will either figure out how to stay financially solvent or one of them will fold, to be replaced with a more creative one. Socializing on the internet is out of the bottle forever. Why is it taking radio so long to embrace it? Even television is doing a better job of using it than radio. That's embarrassing...
