Radio Can Monetize Their Audiences With Video...

Radio is getting it's pants beaten off by new media. Radio hasn't been considered new media in about 80 years yet there's no reason it can't tap into digital era revenue. While year-over-year online video viewership fell 0.2% to 133.5 million unique viewers in April 2010, month-over-month is up 1.3% from March 2010 to April 2010. There's no reason to believe that April 2010 total video streams of 9.4 billion will stop growing. They were up 1.6% during the month. Nielsen supplied the figures and they have more to dispense...

If you're wondering who's got the top online brands ranked by unique viewers look no further than YouTube, circling the field with 97.1 million. Yahoo is next with 27.5 million, followed by Facebook with 24.2 million. Then there's the rest of the field. YouTube is number one in video streams with 4.9 billion. Hulu is number two with 687.8 million. If you're looking to tap into new media revenue, don't go any deeper than YouTube, Yahoo!, Facebook and Hulu. That means offering all 4 websites on your website and selling ads to support them...

Another report from Nielsen shows that online advertising declined for the first time last year, yet online video advertising grew 41%, reaching $1 billion. Nielsen projects growth of another 41% this year. Reasons given for video advertising's rapid growth are it's easy for advertisers to understand and measure and for publishers to use. It's time for radio to tap into that advertising revenue stream...
