A day that's impossible to forget...

If the sun is shining it's a somber day. Being dark and rainy is more appropriate. No yucks today on the day that all hell broke loose and people were falling from the sky, 6 years ago. So far, the passing of 6 years has done nothing to make you forget what happened that day any less. Time heals? Not this day. Not yet anyway. Maybe never. You can't run from it though you try. You just accept that it happened and hope it never happens again - never...

I can't think of any video more appropriate to mark the anniversary of 911 than Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Rnf7DS5YlQ ...

Commentary...

As much as I try to forget that 911 happened as I think many New Yorkers feel, I can't. You remember where you were when it happened. When the first plane hit I was entering the Viacom Building in Times Square and watching ABC-TV's coverage on a giant screen across the street. I remember wearing a red tie that I would never wear again. I remember walking down 40 flights of stairs and walking home 3 miles. Just before I reached the lobby I heard the implosion of the first tower some 2 1/2 miles away. I remember how much compassion there was in the streets among fellow New Yorkers. I remember pretty much everything that I did that day. I hate remembering it all but I hope I never forget...
