The Good...The Bad...The Ugly (1st edition of 2007)...

The Good

The first posthumous good person award goes to Kathryn Gemme, a lifelong Red Sox fan who attended her first Fenway Park game when she was 18. Lots of people attend their first baseball game at a younger age but Kathryn was 18 in 1912, right after Fenway opened. Kathryn passed away at a nursing home in Middleborough (MA) at 112. Kathryn's secret for living so long? "I didn't drink, didn't smoke, I ate regularly. No fancy stuff." Red Sox officials brought the 2004 World Series trophy to her 111th birthday party in November 2005. Her last game at Fenway was in May of 2004 when Kathryn was a spry 110...

The Bad

Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen who took control of football operations before the 2001 season was quoted as saying "I'll never quit. I can't do that. Its the way I'm made." And what has Millen done for the Lions since taking over? Detroit is an NFL worst 24-72. 82-year old William Clay Ford, Sr., sole owner of the Lions is described as "a warm and generous man, an easy man to like." Warm and generous to a fault. Millen must kiss the ground Ford walks on to keep his job...

The Ugly

Denver police are still searching for the killer of 24-year old Denver cornerback Darrent Williams who was gunned down after attending a New Year's Eve party. The Broncos held a private memorial for Williams yesterday and his funeral will be held this weekend...

Don Shula in his own words: "There were four or five direct statements that were blatant lies. That tells you a little bit about the guy. The guy likes to hear himself talk and then doesn't follow up". Relax coach, he's gone. Today is your birthday. Enjoy it...
