The football cousin of Yankees-Red Sox...

When the Patriots and Jets face each other Sunday in Foxborough, it will mark the 94th time these two teams have met since the American Football League was formed in 1960. The Jets hold a slight edge since play began but the Patriots have dominated the series of late, winning nine of the last ten games dating back to 2002. The two teams have split their two games this year setting up the rubber match...

Anything can happen in a playoff game but good coaching and defense usually makes the difference in big games. Bill Belichick is the mentor, the Jets' Eric Mangini is the mentee. Belichick's Patriots have won 3 Super Bowls, Mangini is in his first year as head coach. Belichick has started his own family-tree which includes Mangini and Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum. Eight members of the Jets' coaching staff are former Patriots players or coaches. As long as both coaches remain in place, this is a rivalry that could eventually rival - the Yankees vs. Red Sox in the cities of Boston and New York...

Since my rooting interest is with the Patriots, I can not impartially predict the outcome of the game but this should be a lot closer than the 8 1/2 points that the Pats are favored by...
