The Billboard Music Awards in prime time...why???

Don't get me wrong, there were some good acts on the show but does anyone really care about this awards show with the exception of Billboard? The Grammies and American Music Awards are another story - they pull numbers. That's why they're broadcast in prime time (November and February). I mean there's a reason that the Billboard Music Awards air in December when people are shopping or watching "Rudolph". The biggest story last night was not the winners - 50 Cent, Mariah, Green Day, Carrie Underwood, etc. Britney Spears and Paris Hilton not showing (well they were showing something but not at the Billboard Music Awards). On this date in 1956, Alan Freed's movie, "Rock, Rock, Rock" debuted. The film featured Chuck Berry, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Johnny Burnette, LaVern Baker, the Flamingoes and Moonglows.
