A road still traveled...

The Abbey Road Studios in London which opened in 1931 and was immortalized by The Beatles when they recorded almost all of their albums and singles there between 1962 and 1970 is still open for business and quite busy these days. You might think the ancient building would have been made into a museum and become part of Beatle history to be preserved for all to view for centuries - not so...

U2 is recording their new album at Abbey Road this month where Bono and the group will also record a song with Green Day. Kanye West had a live concert at the studios late last year and the studio has it's own website if you're interested in booking some studio time: http://www.abbeyroad.co.uk ...

Today marks the 37th anniversary of the release of the Beatles album that made the studios famous around the world. "Abbey Road". The LP was not only known for what was inside ("Come Together", "Something", "Octopus's Garden", "Here Comes The Sun", "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and the 16-minute medley that contained "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"/"Golden Slumbers"/"Carry That Weight") but for its cover showing the Beatles walking across Abbey Road. Incidentally when the Beatles recorded that album the studios were called the EMI Studios. It wasn't until the album came out that the name of the studio was changed to Abbey Road...
