1927) Samuel Roxy Rothafel opens the world famous Roxy Theatre in Manhattan...

1930) President Howard Taft becomes our 1st President to be buried in the National Cemetary in Arlington, VA...

1942) With Japanese forces advancing in the Pacific during WWII, General Douglas MacArthur leaves the Philippines for Australia vowing "I shall return" (he does)...

1947) The DuMont TV Network airs "Movies For Small Fry", network television's 1st successful children's program...

1997) It's "Sir" Paul McCartney to you bub after the former Beatle is knighted by QEII (the Queen, not the ship)...

2002) Two columns of light reach to the heavens from ground zero in Manhattan as a temporary memorial to the victims of 911 (those lights could be seen just about every where in the 5 boroughs. Quite a site to see)...

2004) Bombs explode in quick succession across the commuter rail system in Madrid killing 191 and wounding more than 2,000, the results of a terrorist attack by a group linked to al-Qaida...
